The visit marks his first overseas trip since assuming office.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on X, al-Zaidi said the objectives of the visit were to attract investment, transfer expertise and technology, diversify the economy and create employment opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>He said the visit was also intended to accelerate Iraq\u2019s development and strengthen the country\u2019s position as a trusted partner and an active contributor to regional stability and prosperity.<\/p>\n<p>Iraqi government spokesperson Haider al-Aboudi said Iraq and the United States were expected to sign several memoranda of understanding in the oil and gas sectors during the visit.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed agreements are expected to encourage greater participation by American companies in Iraq\u2019s energy industry.<\/p>\n<p>Baghdad has been seeking international investment to increase oil production, modernise energy infrastructure and develop alternative export routes.
