With his death, Banke has lost an experienced political leader, former lawmaker and prominent education campaigner.<\/p>\n<p>Active in politics from the Panchayat era through the multiparty democratic period, Tharu held several government responsibilities, including at the Ministry of Education and Culture. He was elected to the Rastriya Panchayat from Banke in 1986 and later won a seat in the House of Representatives from Banke Constituency No. 3 as an RPP candidate in 1994.<\/p>\n<p>Tharu began his political career at the local level. He served as a village panchayat chief, a member of the Banke District Panchayat and later its chair before establishing himself in national politics.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside his political career, he made an important contribution to the educational development of Banke.
