Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has sent a message of greetings to Nepal\u2019s Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Russia.<\/p>\n

In the message issued on July 20, Lavrov said relations between the two countries had always been characterised by friendship, mutual respect and due regard for each other\u2019s fundamental interests.<\/p>\n

He reaffirmed Russia\u2019s readiness to work with Nepal to further strengthen bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am confident that Russian-Nepalese cooperation will continue to contribute to regional and international stability and security,\u201d Lavrov said.<\/p>\n

He also wished Minister Khanal and all officials at Nepal\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs good health and continued success.<\/p>\n

Nepal and the former Soviet Union formally established diplomatic relations on July 20, 1956. Since then, the two countries have cooperated in political dialogue, education, development, culture and people-to-people relations.<\/p>\n
