Senior diplomatic officials from Russia and Iran have concluded two days of interministerial consultations in Moscow focusing on bilateral relations and regional developments.<\/p>\n

During the consultations held on July 21 and 22, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin received Mojtaba Damirchiloo, Iran\u2019s assistant foreign minister and director general for Eurasian affairs.<\/p>\n

The Iranian delegation also held separate consultations with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry\u2019s Second Asian Department and its Second, Third and Fourth Departments for the Commonwealth of Independent States.<\/p>\n

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the two sides conducted an in-depth exchange of views on political, diplomatic and regional issues of mutual interest.<\/p>\n

They reaffirmed their commitment to further developing the full spectrum of Russia\u2013Iran relations in accordance with the provisions and spirit of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.<\/p>\n

The consultations included detailed discussions on the latest situation in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, along with related political, security and economic developments.<\/p>\n

The two sides also exchanged views on developments surrounding Ukraine and assessed their regional and international implications. Detailed conclusions from that part of the discussions were not made public.<\/p>\n

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty provides a long-term framework for cooperation between Russia and Iran in diplomacy, trade, energy, investment, science and technology, defence, security and culture.<\/p>\n

The two countries have also been expanding coordination through BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and other multilateral platforms.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the Moscow consultations, the two sides agreed to maintain regular contacts and coordination between their foreign ministries.<\/p>\n
