No single film can be described as the best Russian release of 2026 under every measure.<\/p>\n

When current box-office performance, audience ratings and total commercial achievement are considered separately, Na Derevnyu Dedushke 2, Serf 3 and Cheburashka 2 stand out for different reasons.<\/p>\n

Na Derevnyu Dedushke 2: The Current Box-Office Leader<\/strong><\/p>\n

The family comedy Na Derevnyu Dedushke 2 opened across Russia on July 16.<\/p>\n

The 93-minute film has received an early Kinopoisk audience rating of 7.1.

The story follows Vladik as he again spends his summer holiday with his grandfather Yura. His paternal grandfather Viktor, a former diplomat, unexpectedly arrives in the village.<\/p>\n

A rivalry develops between the two grandfathers, but the comedy takes a more serious turn when a dangerous secret from Viktor\u2019s past emerges.<\/p>\n

Yuri Stoyanov and Fyodor Dobronravov play the rival grandfathers.<\/p>\n

The cast also includes Yaroslav Golovnyov, Ingrid Olerinskaya, Tatyana Orlova and Anton Filipenko.<\/p>\n

The film led the Russian box office during its July 16\u201319 opening weekend with 101.4 million rubles. Its total had reached 167.8 million rubles by July 23.<\/p>\n

Its performance nevertheless requires context. The sequel\u2019s first-week revenue was 21 percent below the comparable figure for the original film.<\/p>\n

It is therefore the current market leader, but not yet an exceptional historical success.<\/p>\n

Directed by Klim Shipenko, Serf 3 was released on June 11 as the third film in one of Russia\u2019s most popular comedy franchises.<\/p>\n

It has a Kinopoisk rating of approximately 7.3 based on more than 30,000 audience votes.<\/p>\n

The story follows Lena and Boris Vyazemsky, who are preparing to sell their family company, divorce and go their separate ways.<\/p>\n

Their children, Milana and Yelisey, ask Grisha and his team to prevent the family from breaking apart.<\/p>\n

The couple are placed inside an elaborate psychological reconstruction of the era of Peter the Great.<\/p>\n

Sea journeys, historical fortresses and dangerous situations force them to reconsider their past and their responsibilities to one another.<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s official description presents the rediscovery of the importance of family as its central theme.<\/p>\n

The cast includes Milo\u0161 Bikovi\u0107, Pavel Priluchny, Kristina Asmus, Ivan Okhlobystin, Aleksandr Samoylenko, Maria Mironova and Olga Dibtseva.<\/p>\n

A major production block was filmed in Turkey, using Mamure Castle, open-water locations and a functioning three-masted sailing ship designed to resemble vessels built with technology from the era of Peter the Great.<\/p>\n

The locations give the comedy a larger adventure-film scale.<\/p>\n

By July 22, Serf 3 had earned more than 1.06 billion rubles in Russia and attracted around 2.21 million viewers.<\/p>\n

The result remains well below the final totals of the first two films.<\/p>\n

The original Serf earned approximately 3.18 billion rubles across Russia and the CIS, while the second film generated around 3.94 billion rubles.<\/p>\n

Serf 3 should therefore not be described as the franchise\u2019s biggest commercial success.<\/p>\n

Its audience rating, ensemble cast, historical setting and large-scale adventure sequences nevertheless make it one of the year\u2019s most prominent Russian commercial entertainments.<\/p>\n

Cheburashka 2: Russia\u2019s Biggest Film of the Year<\/strong><\/p>\n

Directed by Dmitry Dyachenko, Cheburashka 2 opened on January 1 as a family comedy adventure.<\/p>\n

It earned 6.038 billion rubles during the first half of the year, making it the clear leader of Russia\u2019s 2026 box office.<\/p>\n

By February 21, its Russian box-office total had exceeded 6 billion rubles.<\/p>\n

It became only the second Russian film to cross that level, behind the original Cheburashka released in 2023.<\/p>\n

The story begins one year after the events of the first film.<\/p>\n

Cheburashka has become accustomed to living with the gardener Gena but, like a growing child, begins demanding independence, making mistakes and challenging parental authority.<\/p>\n

After disrupting Sonya\u2019s birthday celebration, Cheburashka secretly escapes into the mountains with Sonya and Grisha.<\/p>\n

While the children encounter dangerous adventures, Gena and the other adults search for them.<\/p>\n

The story combines childhood independence, parental responsibility, family communication and an effort to protect Gena\u2019s home.<\/p>\n

Sergei Garmash plays Gena, while Olga Kuzmina provides Cheburashka\u2019s voice.<\/p>\n

Elena Yakovleva, Fyodor Dobronravov, Polina Maksimova, Sergei Lavygin, Dmitry Lysenkov and Aleksandr Lykov are among the principal cast members.<\/p>\n

The film has a Kinopoisk rating of around 7.7 based on more than 240,000 votes.<\/p>\n

Its rating is therefore drawn from a substantially larger audience sample than those of Serf 3 or Na Derevnyu Dedushke 2.<\/p>\n

Critical reaction has not been unanimous.<\/p>\n

Some reviewers praised its energy, family emotion and spectacle, while others criticised its crowded screenplay, exaggerated characters and uneven visual effects.<\/p>\n

Na Derevnyu Dedushke 2 is the current July box-office leader.<\/p>\n

For viewers seeking historical settings, elaborate spectacle and mainstream comedy, Serf 3 remains a prominent alternative.<\/p>\n
