The House of Representatives is scheduled to meet at 1 pm today, with an urgent public importance proposal concerning the identification, protection and permanent rehabilitation of genuine landless people, squatters and residents of unplanned settlements on the probable agenda.<\/p>\n

Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe is scheduled to present the proposal.<\/p>\n

The motion calls on the government to ensure safe housing, basic services, food, health care, education and continuity of livelihoods for genuine landless and squatter families.<\/p>\n

It also seeks appropriate compensation and a guarantee of permanent rehabilitation for displaced citizens. The proposal urges the government to make immediate arrangements for distributing land ownership certificates to verified landless and squatter families.<\/p>\n

Lawmakers Ain Bahadur Mahar, Yubaraj Dulal and Aren Rai are listed as supporters of the proposal.<\/p>\n

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam is also scheduled to present the sixth annual report of the Indigenous Nationalities Commission for fiscal year 2024\/25 on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah.<\/p>\n

Five parliamentary committees are also scheduled to meet today.<\/p>\n

The Finance Committee will meet at 10 am to continue clause-by-clause deliberations on the bill seeking to amend the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2002.<\/p>\n

The International Relations and Tourism Committee is scheduled to hold a theoretical discussion with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation on the Tourism Bill, 2024.<\/p>\n

The Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumer Interest Committee will also meet at 10 am to discuss the management of cooking gas supplies.<\/p>\n

The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee will meet at 11 am to hold theoretical and clause-by-clause discussions on the Bill to Revive the Previous Provisions of the Nepal Special Service Act, 1985.<\/p>\n

The committee is also scheduled to discuss the report of the subcommittee formed to draft its working procedures.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee will hold discussions with former committee chair Ram Narayan Bidari on matters relating to assurances given by the government.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s parliamentary agenda is expected to focus on the rehabilitation of landless and squatter families, legal reforms concerning the central bank, tourism legislation, cooking gas supply management and the legal framework governing special services.<\/p>\n
