S&P Global Ratings has revised the outlook on Georgia\u2019s sovereign credit rating to positive from stable while affirming its long term and short term ratings at BB and B, respectively, according to Georgia\u2019s Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n

The rating agency said the positive outlook is supported by several key factors, including the accumulation of international reserves, robust economic growth, prudent fiscal management, moderate government debt and a stable banking sector.<\/p>\n

S&P said Georgia\u2019s overall credit fundamentals have continued to strengthen in recent years, supported by strong economic expansion, sound macroeconomic management and resilient domestic demand.<\/p>\n

The agency noted that the accumulation of international reserves has improved Georgia\u2019s external position, while prudent fiscal management has helped keep government debt at a moderate level.<\/p>\n

According to the assessment, Georgia\u2019s economy expanded by an average of 8.3 percent annually over the past three years, placing it among the faster growing economies globally.<\/p>\n

S&P expects Georgia\u2019s economy to grow by around 6.4 percent in 2026 and 5.9 percent in 2027.<\/p>\n

Growth is then projected to gradually converge toward the country\u2019s medium term potential of about 5 percent.<\/p>\n

The revision of the outlook to positive does not represent an immediate rating upgrade. However, it signals an increased possibility of a higher sovereign credit rating in the future if improvements in economic fundamentals, foreign exchange reserves, public finances and financial sector stability are sustained.<\/p>\n

For Georgia, the latest assessment suggests that maintaining strong economic growth while preserving macroeconomic stability, prudent public debt management and resilience in the financial sector will remain important factors in future rating decisions.<\/p>\n
