Chinese animated fantasy comedy \u201cAll Wishes Come True,\u201d one of the notable performers of China\u2019s summer film season, has entered the North American market following its domestic commercial success.<\/p>\n

The film held its North American premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday night before beginning its theatrical release across selected cinemas in the United States and Canada on Friday.<\/p>\n

Inspired by the classic Taoist tale of the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, the film combines traditional Chinese mythology with contemporary animation and storytelling techniques.<\/p>\n

According to Chinese film data and ticketing platform Maoyan, \u201cAll Wishes Come True\u201d had grossed more than 1.51 billion yuan, approximately US$224 million, at the Chinese box office by Friday. It has also received a 9.7 out of 10 audience rating on Maoyan based on assessments from more than 241,000 moviegoers.<\/p>\n

The film was written and directed by Mou Zhengyang, while Chen Hao served as voice director. Chen\u2019s previous credits include \u201cNe Zha\u201d and \u201cNe Zha 2,\u201d productions that helped strengthen the international profile of China\u2019s rapidly developing animation industry.<\/p>\n

Audience members and film professionals attending the Los Angeles premiere praised the production\u2019s animation, storytelling and extensive use of Eastern mythology. The film seeks to present a distinctly Chinese cultural narrative while employing themes of relationships, cooperation and human experience that can be understood across cultural boundaries.<\/p>\n

CMC Pictures is distributing the Mandarin-language film with English subtitles in more than 100 selected theatres across North America. Its release covers major cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas, Seattle, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Toronto and Vancouver.<\/p>\n

The North American release of \u201cAll Wishes Come True\u201d represents another step in the international expansion of Chinese animation following strong performances in the domestic market.<\/p>\n

It also reflects a broader development within China\u2019s film industry: filmmakers are increasingly drawing upon the country\u2019s mythology, folklore and traditional cultural resources while employing modern animation technology to create productions designed for both domestic and international audiences.<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s performance outside China will therefore provide another indication of how effectively contemporary Chinese animation can translate culturally specific stories into commercially viable global cinema.<\/p>\n
