Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shashank Koirala has said that the current government has failed to deliver substantive and people-oriented results despite enjoying majority support.<\/p>\n

Speaking to journalists on Saturday during the national gathering of the Nepali Congress faction outside the party establishment in Kathmandu, Koirala expressed dissatisfaction with the government\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n

He said that despite having majority backing, the government had failed to introduce new policies and effective programmes in line with public expectations. Describing its performance as ineffective, he characterised the current administration as a \u201ccaretaker-like\u201d government.<\/p>\n

Koirala also expressed doubt over whether the current government would complete a full five-year term, saying that changing political circumstances could push the country towards a mid-term election.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cThis government appears to be ordinary in nature. Despite having a majority, I do not think it has delivered anything substantively good. There are no new policies. It can, in a way, be described as a caretaker government. There is no guarantee that this government will last the full five years. There is also a possibility that the country may have to go for a mid-term election. Such a possibility cannot be ruled out in politics.\u201d<\/p>\n
