Om Prakash Aryal, who served as Home Minister in the interim government formed after last year\u2019s Gen-Z movement, has said the current government has appeared weak in implementing the rule of law from the very beginning.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview on Kantipur Television\u2019s programme \u201cFire Side\u201d on Monday night, Aryal said the government had failed to adopt the approach required to uphold the rule of law from its initial stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe current government did not take the approach it should have taken toward the rule of law from the outset. There has been weakness in the rule of law from the very beginning,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Aryal said the rule of law does not allow the rights of one person to be taken away and handed to another. He also argued that the government had failed to advance different indicators of good governance in a balanced manner.<\/p>\n

He said the issues raised by the Gen-Z movement had now entered the political and state mainstream and that Gen-Z had emerged as a permanent stakeholder.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe issues of Gen-Z have become mainstream. Gen-Z has become a permanent stakeholder. These have also become issues of the state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Aryal acknowledged that there had been some improvement in governance and public service delivery, but maintained that weaknesses remained in effectively institutionalising the rule of law.<\/p>\n
