He said much had changed during that period, both internationally and in bilateral relations, and described the UAE as one of Russia\u2019s closest partners in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Putin said cooperation between Russia and the UAE extends well beyond the economy. Bilateral trade is already substantial and continues to grow, while political coordination and cooperation on security issues have also expanded.<\/p>\n<p>Referring to the difficult situation in the Middle East, Putin said Moscow remains in regular contact with the UAE leadership, including President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He asked the Crown Prince to convey his best wishes to the UAE President and noted that they regularly discuss the most important and urgent regional issues by telephone.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian President expressed confidence that the regional situation would eventually stabilise despite current difficulties.
