Reinforcements later joined them, and the defenders held their position for 58 days, according to Russian historical accounts.<\/p>\n<p>The building was reconstructed after the war and became a memorial site in Stalingrad, now Volgograd. Pavlov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s Foreign Ministry presents the episode as an example of the Soviet soldiers\u2019 courage and determination in the fight against Nazi Germany.
