The 77th anniversary of the founding of the People\u2019s Republic of China, the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 90th anniversary of the victory of the great Long March all fall in the same year. These occasions offer an opportunity not only to honour China\u2019s past, but also to understand its present development and future direction. The steadfast resolve demonstrated by the Long March, the national foundation established by the founding of the People\u2019s Republic, and the journey of modernization under the leadership of the Communist Party of China are all visible in China today.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s progress cannot be understood without honouring the struggle and sacrifices of its people. For China, the victory of the Long March symbolizes the courage to remain committed to a goal even under the most difficult circumstances. Following the founding of the People\u2019s Republic in 1949, national reconstruction and the fulfilment of citizens\u2019 basic needs became historic responsibilities. Since then, China has pursued a path of development suited to its own circumstances and established itself among the world\u2019s major industrial and economic powers. Continuity, organizational capacity and the labour of its people have been decisive in that journey.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s economic achievements show the scale of this transformation. According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the country\u2019s gross domestic product exceeded 140 trillion yuan in 2025, while its economy grew by five percent. This achievement rests on the combined strength of production, trade and a vast domestic market. China is now advancing high-quality development and Chinese modernization during the period of its 15th Five-Year Plan. This means more than expanding the size of the economy: it means placing research, productivity and people\u2019s well-being at the centre of development.<\/p>\n

Poverty alleviation is among China\u2019s most significant achievements for its people. According to official Chinese figures, a targeted eight-year campaign lifted 98.99 million rural residents out of poverty by the end of 2020 under the national standard then in force. This outcome gives tangible form to the principle that development should improve people\u2019s lives. When access to roads, employment, education, healthcare and markets expands, economic progress becomes a real opportunity for families. This people-centred approach remains important to China\u2019s goal of advancing common prosperity.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s capacity to build infrastructure has also been closely linked to its broader development planning. Railways, roads, ports, power grids and digital networks have connected different regions to production and markets. They have made travel easier for citizens while supporting the expansion of industry, trade and services. A notable feature of China\u2019s development experience is its treatment of infrastructure as more than a collection of separate projects: it is a shared foundation for economic activity and wider regional opportunity.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s progress in science and technology is directly connected to the future it is building. Work in advanced manufacturing, electric vehicles, telecommunications, artificial intelligence and space research reflects its priority of developing its own capacity for innovation. Connections among universities, research institutions and industry allow new knowledge to be put into practice. Technology has this role in Chinese modernization: to link scientific capability with improvements in production, services and everyday life.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s role in green development is also growing. The International Energy Agency estimates that China will account for nearly 60 percent of the increase in renewable electricity capacity worldwide between 2025 and 2030. The expansion of solar and wind power is increasing the potential for clean technologies to become widely available. As climate change is a shared challenge, this progress can contribute not only to China\u2019s development but also to the global energy transition.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s approach to development is also connected to international cooperation. The concepts of peaceful development, mutual benefit and a shared future attach importance to dialogue and practical partnership among countries. This has particular meaning for relations between Nepal and China. The two countries have advanced their friendship on the basis of sovereign equality, mutual respect and the principles of peaceful coexistence. Cooperation in education, connectivity, clean energy, environmental protection and disaster risk reduction can make this relationship still more useful in people\u2019s lives. The assistance China has provided to Nepal in difficult times is a humane expression of that friendship.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s 77-year national journey offers the world an important example of the value of long-term goals, public participation and sustained implementation. On this special occasion, I express my profound respect for the struggle, hard work and achievements of the Chinese people. I extend my heartfelt best wishes to the people and leadership of China on the founding anniversary of the People\u2019s Republic, the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Long March. May China continue to succeed in its pursuit of peace, prosperity and Chinese modernization. May Nepal\u2013China friendship grow ever closer and bring greater benefits to the people of both countries.<\/p>\n
