Poudel noted Putin’s contribution to the transformation of modern Russia, the defence of its national sovereignty and the strengthening of its role in world affairs.

Poudel said Putin’s leadership had played a decisive role in strengthening Russia’s state institutions, maintaining political stability and placing national interests at the centre of its foreign policy following the difficult transition of the 1990s. He said Putin’s consistent advocacy of sovereign equality, mutual respect and the right of nations to make their own decisions had contributed to the debate on a multipolar world order.
