Two black-necked cranes have been filmed foraging in a grassland in the Dumu-ge area of Songqu County, Sichuan Province, China. It is the first recorded footage of the birds in the area.

Local officials were conducting routine patrols in a pastoral area when they spotted the cranes and filmed them on a mobile phone.<\/p>\n

The Dumu-ge area lies within an important ecological conservation zone in the upper reaches of the Yellow River. It is considered an important migration, resting and habitat area for high-altitude wildlife and plant species.

In recent years, Songqu County has advanced ecological conservation and restoration in the Yellow River basin, along with measures to regulate grazing and balance grassland conditions with livestock. Local officials say they regularly monitor and protect remote pastures, grasslands and wetlands, while working to prevent damage to grassland ecosystems and disturbance to wildlife.<\/p>\n

Officials say the footage of the two cranes foraging indicates that the grassland ecosystem in the Dumu-ge area is improving and biodiversity is increasing. The recording will also provide useful material for wildlife surveys and ecological monitoring.<\/p>\n
