India Hands Over First Tranche of Assistance for Election Preparations

Kathmandu — As part of the assistance extended by the Government of India to support Nepal’s upcoming elections, the first tranche of election-related materials was formally handed over today. At a ceremony held in Kathmandu, the Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of India in Nepal handed over the assistance to Nepal’s Hon’ble Minister for Home Affairs, Om Prakash Aryal.

The assistance handed over today includes more than 60 double-cab pickup vehicles along with other essential supplies. These vehicles and materials form part of the support requested by the Government of Nepal to facilitate election preparations.

According to the Embassy of India, the assistance package will be delivered in phases, with around 650 vehicles in total to be provided in the coming weeks, aiming to further strengthen and streamline election management.

This support is viewed as a symbol of cooperation between the Government of Nepal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Election Commission of Nepal, and the Government of India. It is expected to enhance the security, technical, and administrative aspects of the election process and reflects the longstanding friendship between the two countries as well as their shared commitment to democratic practices.
