Kathmandu. To strengthen preparations for the upcoming elections, the second tranche of election-related assistance provided by the Government of India to Nepal was formally handed over today. Under this phase, more than 250 SUVs and double-cab pickup vehicles have been made available to the Government of Nepal.

The vehicles were handed over today by the Charge d’affaires a.i. of India to Nepal in the presence of Minister for Finance Rameshore Prasad Khanal and Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari. It has been stated that the assistance was provided at the request of the Government of Nepal to support election management, security preparations, and to enhance the operational capacity of the Election Commission.

Earlier, the Government of India had already handed over materials and vehicles under the first tranche of assistance on 20 January 2026. Further similar assistance materials are expected to be delivered in the coming weeks, further strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Officials of the Government of Nepal have expressed confidence that such support will be important in ensuring that the election process is smooth, secure, and effective.

It is expected that this cooperation will further elevate Nepal–India relations and continue the two countries’ shared journey toward strengthening democracy.
