Khadka Clarifies No Withdrawal of Supreme Court Petition, Disagreement Persists Within Congress

Kathmandu — Former acting president of Nepali Congress, Purna Bahadur Khadka, has clarified that there is no understanding to withdraw the petition he filed in the Supreme Court.
Earlier this morning, a discussion took place between the Gagan Thapa faction and party president Sher Bahadur Deuba’s faction regarding participating in the upcoming elections through mutual agreement and potentially withdrawing the court petition. According to a leader from Deuba’s side, the conversation included arrangements for ticket distribution and proceeding to elections after withdrawing the petition, with all three factions participating in the process.
However, former acting president Khadka has clearly stated that reports claiming the petition would be withdrawn are incorrect. Similarly, the office of party president Deuba has also denied any plans to withdraw the petition.
The developments indicate that while there are ongoing efforts for consensus within the Nepali Congress, legal and strategic differences persist between the leaders of the party’s two main factions.
