Visa-Free Travel Extended to Citizens of 76 Countries

Beijing, China/ According to data released by China’s National Immigration Administration, China’s border inspection authorities processed a total of 697 million inbound and outbound trips in 2025, marking a 14.2 percent increase compared with the previous year and setting a new record.

Out of the total cross-border movements, international travelers accounted for 80.2 million trips, up 26.4 percent year on year. Among them, nearly 30.1 million travelers entered China without a visa, representing 73.1 percent of total international arrivals. This figure recorded a significant 49.5 percent increase compared with last year.

Mainland residents made 335 million cross-border trips, while residents from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan recorded 279 million cross-border trips. These figures represent increases of 15.1 percent and 10.1 percent, respectively, compared with 2024.

According to the administration, China currently offers visa-free entry to citizens of 76 countries. In addition, travelers from 55 countries can benefit from a 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit policy at 65 designated entry ports. The administration noted that these expanded facilitation measures have been a key factor behind the sharp rise in inbound and outbound travel, reflecting China’s increasingly open approach and its deeper integration with the global community.
