Role of NRN Youth in Nepal’s Development Post Gen Z Revolution

Kathmandu — The role of non-resident Nepali youth (NRN youth) is growing in Nepal’s economic, social, and technological sectors. Young people of Nepali origin spread across the globe have been directly contributing to Nepal’s development process by leveraging their educational qualifications, international experience, and digital skills.

Known as “Generation Z,” this cohort is playing a leading role in creating new industries in Nepal, increasing employment opportunities, and driving social change through their entrepreneurship, tech-savviness, and global networks. Young people who return to Nepal after studying and gaining work experience abroad are making significant contributions to revitalizing the country’s economy by starting startups, digital platforms, educational initiatives, and social enterprises.

NRN youth associations have also been conducting various social awareness, health, education, and emergency support programs in Nepal. Their technology-centered approach has helped modernize traditional sectors and connect the country with the world.

Meanwhile, the government has also introduced policies to harness the potential of NRN youth, such as maintaining connections with Nepali youth abroad, promoting entrepreneurship, and making it easier for diaspora youth to invest in Nepal.

Analysts say that the energy, international perspective, and digital skills of “Generation Z” could significantly transform Nepal’s development pace, provided the country can properly integrate their contributions.

These non-resident Nepali youth, who are playing a crucial role in building Nepal’s future, have now become important partners in the country’s progress.
