Russia Condemns Attack by US and Israel, Assures Iran of Diplomatic Support

Moscow, February 28 – A telephone conversation took place today between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. During the talks, the Iranian side informed Russia about the steps taken by the Iranian leadership to repel the aggression by the United States and Israel.
During the conversation, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi stated that the talks aimed at the peaceful resolution of Iran’s nuclear program have once again been disrupted due to the attack by the US and Israel. Furthermore, he informed Lavrov of his plan to convene an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on this matter.
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov strongly condemned the completely unprovoked armed attack on Iran by the US and Israel. He stated that this attack is a grave violation of the principles and norms of international law and drew attention to its serious repercussions for regional and global peace and security.
Lavrov emphasized the need to immediately halt the attacks on Iran and return to the path of political and diplomatic resolution. He reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to provide all possible assistance to Iran in finding a peaceful solution based on international law, mutual respect, and a balance of interests.
The Iranian side expressed heartfelt gratitude to Russia for its unwavering and strong support during this difficult time.
