Russian Foreign Ministry Expresses Concern Over Venezuelan President’s Situation

Moscow, January 5. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed grave concern over reports that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his spouse were forcibly removed from the country during aggressive actions by the United States.

The Ministry has demanded immediate clarification on this matter. It emphasized in its statement that if such actions did indeed occur, it would constitute an unacceptable violation of the sovereignty of an independent nation, breaching a fundamental principle of international law.

Russia has called for the United Nations Security Council to convene an urgent meeting regarding this incident and urged the international community to support the legally elected government of Venezuela.
