Shining Star of Nepali Cinema, ‘Rānte Kailā’ Sunil Thapa, Passes Away

Kathmandu – Senior actor Sunil Thapa passed away on Saturday morning. Thapa was found unconscious in his apartment in Shankhamul and was immediately taken to Norvic Hospital, where he died during treatment. Upon hearing the news of their father’s death, Thapa’s sons, who are currently in India, are preparing to return home.
Following his passing, many figures from Nepal’s film and arts community gathered at the hospital. In the Nepali film industry, he was also popularly known as ‘Rānte Kailā,’ a nickname he earned from the movie Chino. Thapa’s most recent film was Eklō (“Alone”), and in a poignant reflection of the film’s title, he bid farewell to this world alone.
