The Satire on China-Russia Policy to Stop American Aggression

Kathmandu – These days, a peculiar satire is circulating in international relations: ‘The Russia-China policy: Stop the US attack on Iran, or else… we will walk away. What a great policy.’ This satire exposes the growing questions and dissatisfaction regarding the role of the two major powers in world politics.

The international community remains stunned by US military interventions in countries like Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, and the destruction they have caused. In such a situation, China and Russia have been opposing US moves at the United Nations, issuing press releases, and expressing dissatisfaction in diplomatic language. However, when these press releases and protests fail to change US policy, a question arises – are these merely paper protests?

International relations analyst Mukunda Acharya says, ‘The press releases issued by China and Russia opposing US attacks are becoming ineffective. While the US continues to intervene in one country after another, China and Russia have been unable to do anything practically. This has raised questions about their very capability.’

What is most concerning is that the impact of this US intervention is beginning to reach Nepal. Through various treaties and agreements, Nepal is also gradually coming under the sphere of American influence. Despite being permanent members of the United Nations, comments are emerging that China and Russia have failed to take concrete steps to protect Nepal’s sovereignty.

Political analyst Dr. Surendra K.C. says, ‘Nepal is a country across the Himalayas. When China and Russia do not take concrete steps to protect the sovereignty of their neighbor and partner country, small nations feel insecure. Silent support and merely issuing press releases diminish credibility in international relations.’

Although China and Russia have the potential to block US moves by using their veto power in the UN Security Council, they often appear silent or play a weak role on such matters. Amidst the possibility of a US attack on Iran, the silence of China and Russia indicates that they have adopted a policy of limiting themselves to diplomatic protests and avoiding practical confrontation with the US.

Therefore, the satire – ‘The Russia-China policy: Stop the US attack on Iran, or else… we will walk away. What a great policy’ – is not just an expression of anger towards China-Russia policy, but has also become a symbol of the insecurity of small nations in international relations. The need for countries like Nepal to now become more conscious and active in protecting their national interests and sovereignty, rather than relying on the silent support of China and Russia, has become even more urgent.
