Trilateral meeting chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister
Support for bilateral ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand

Beijing, 28 December. A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will meet with the foreign ministers of Cambodia and Thailand in China’s Yunnan Province on December 28 and 29.
According to the spokesperson, at the invitation of Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Foreign Minister, delegations led by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn and Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow will hold meetings in Yunnan Province on the aforementioned dates.
This past Friday (December 27), Cambodia and Thailand signed an agreement through a joint statement expressing consensus on a ceasefire during a meeting of the Special General Border Committee.
In response to a related question, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson clarified that China welcomes the joint statement between Cambodia and Thailand regarding the ceasefire. He stated, “This proves that dialogue and consultation are a viable and effective way to resolve complex disputes.”
The spokesperson noted that China, ASEAN, and the international community have made collective efforts to this end. He informed that China is ready to provide a platform and create conditions for more thorough and detailed communication between Cambodia and Thailand.
According to the spokesperson, in addition to the foreign ministers of the three countries, military representatives from all three nations will also participate in the meeting in Yunnan.
The spokesperson stated that during this meeting, China will play a constructive role in its own way to help Cambodia and Thailand consolidate the ceasefire, resume exchanges, rebuild political trust, improve bilateral relations, and maintain regional peace.
