Xi Jinping Congratulates PLA Daily Staff, Calls for Strengthening a Modern Military Communication System

Beijing — Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended warm congratulations to the staff of the PLA Daily, the official newspaper of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), on the occasion of its anniversary through a congratulatory letter.

Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), conveyed his best wishes to all staff members of the newspaper on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC.

In the letter, President Xi noted that over the past seven decades, the PLA Daily has made significant contributions to carrying forward the fine traditions of the Party and the armed forces, nurturing generations of revolutionary officers and soldiers, and supporting the development of the people’s armed forces.

He stressed that the PLA Daily should remain steadfast in its fundamental principles while embracing innovation, and strive to build a more effective and modern military communication system. Such efforts, he said, would help lay a strong foundation for the modernization of national defense and the armed forces.

Xi’s message was read out on Wednesday by Zhang Shengmin, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, at a commemorative meeting held in Beijing to mark the anniversary of the newspaper.

At the event, Zhang emphasized that the PLA Daily should firmly convey the voice of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC, and continue to play an unwavering role in providing strong ideological guidance and public support for the cause of building a strong military.

Founded on January 1, 1956, the PLA Daily serves as the official newspaper of the Central Military Commission.
