Russian Defence Ministry Claims: 138 More Locations Struck, 671 Aircraft Destroyed So Far

Moscow — The Russian Defence Ministry, providing an update on the progress of the special military operation as of April 23, 2026, stated that the Vostok Group of Forces continued advancing into the depth of enemy defense. Russian elements inflicted fire damage on formations of a mechanized brigade, an air assault brigade, two assault brigades, and three assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) close to Pokrovskoye, Gavrilovka, Lesnoye, Velikomikhaylovka, Aleksandrovka (Dnepropetrovsk region), Yasnya Polyana, and Vozdvizhevka (Zaporozhye region).

According to the ministry, the enemy lost more than 295 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, and five motor vehicles.

Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of a mechanized brigade, a mountain assault brigade of the AFU, and a territorial defense brigade near Kamyshevakha, Yurkovka, and Orekhov (Zaporozhye region). Up to 60 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, 20 motor vehicles, and three electronic warfare stations were neutralized.

Operational-tactical aviation, attack drones, missile troops, and artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces hit Ukrainian energy and transport infrastructure facilities used by the AFU, temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 138 areas.

Air defense systems shot down ten guided aerial bombs and 418 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.

The ministry claims that since the beginning of the special military operation, the enemy has lost: 671 aircraft, 284 helicopters, 137,138 unmanned aerial vehicles, 656 anti-aircraft missile systems, 29,020 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,705 MLRS combat vehicles, 34,583 field artillery guns and mortars, and 60,019 units of support military vehicles.
