Kathmandu — US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, held separate meetings with Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal and Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle on Friday during his visit to Nepal.

The meeting at the Foreign Ministry focused on further strengthening Nepal-US bilateral relations. According to the US Embassy in Kathmandu, discussions centred particularly on expanding trade and promoting investment. Gor emphasised moving forward with projects under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which are advancing towards implementation in Nepal. The ministry said that a constructive and productive dialogue was held between the two sides on expanding cooperation in various potential sectors.

Meanwhile, Gor also held talks with Finance Minister Wagle. The Finance Ministry stated that the discussions focused on further deepening Nepal-US relations and enhancing cooperation to boost investment and trade. Various aspects of the economic partnership and development assistance between the two countries were discussed during the meeting, the ministry added.

With the Rastriya Swatantra Party having formed the new government, visits by successive US officials to Nepal have grown increasingly frequent. Earlier, US Assistant Secretary of State Samir Paul Kapur had also visited Nepal. However, neither official has been able to secure a meeting with Prime Minister Balen Shah.
