Minister Lamsal Conducts On-Site Inspection of Nagdhunga-Mugling Road, Fuel Shortage Cited as Major Cause for Construction Delays

Kathmandu. Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal has conducted an on-site inspection of the Nagdhunga-Mugling road section. The minister carried out the inspection in light of the recent disruptions and delays observed in the construction work.

The construction of this road section has been affected due to problems arising in the import of bitumen and other petroleum products, caused by the escalating conflict in West Asia. Due to the shortage of fuel and bitumen, construction work not only on the Nagdhunga-Mugling road but also on various other road projects across the country remains in a sluggish state.

Apart from the international situation, local-level obstructions and the lack of easy availability of stones, gravel, and sand are also cited as major reasons for the stalling of construction work. Although construction entrepreneurs have repeatedly apprised the government of these problems, they complain that the state has not shown adequate concern. Bearing in mind the grievances of the entrepreneurs and the sluggishness witnessed in the project, Minister Lamsal conducted the inspection to find solutions to the problems.
