China Deploys Liaoning Carrier Task Group to Western Pacific for Routine Training

Beijing — The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy deployed a carrier task group led by the aircraft carrier Liaoning to relevant waters of the Western Pacific on Tuesday, according to the PLA Navy’s official WeChat account.
The task group is set to conduct training on subjects including far-seas tactical flight, live firing, support and cover, and integrated search and rescue, aimed at testing and enhancing the realistic combat training capabilities of the forces.
“This is a routine training organized in accordance with the annual plan, which aims to enhance the military’s capability to fulfill its missions, and is fully in compliance with international law and practice,” the PLA Navy stated.
