Indian President Embarks on Three-Day Visit to Sikkim Today, to Visit Nathu La and Confer Police Colour on Sikkim Police

Gangtok — The President of India is arriving in Sikkim today for a three-day official visit. During the visit spanning May 26 to 28, the President is scheduled to travel across Gangtok and to the Nathu La Pass.

On the first day of the visit, Monday, the President shall arrive at Libing Helipad at 11:00 a.m. Later in the afternoon, the President will grace the flag-off ceremony of the Pink City Runners at Ridge Park at 4:00 p.m. The same day, the President is scheduled to visit the Orchidarium at 4:30 p.m. and the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology on Deorali Road at 5:00 p.m.

On the second day of the visit, Tuesday, the President shall visit the historic Nathu La Pass along the India-China border at 9:00 a.m. Thereafter, the President will attend and address the 7th Convocation of Sikkim University as the Chief Guest at Manan Bhavan, Gangtok, at 3:30 p.m.

On the third and final day, Wednesday, the President will confer the prestigious ‘President of India Police Colour’ upon the Sikkim Police at a special ceremony to be held at Palzor Stadium at 8:30 a.m. The occasion shall also feature a parade and a cultural programme.

All events of the visit shall be streamed live on YouTube. Furthermore, the President’s addresses at the Sikkim University convocation ceremony and the Police Colour presentation ceremony shall be telecast live on Doordarshan and broadcast across the official social media platforms of the Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD).

The Sikkim Government has stated that all preparations have been completed to host the visit in a grand manner. Security arrangements have been tightened, and accredited media personnel have been advised to arrive at the respective venues at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled time.
