Gen-Z Movement: National Human Rights Commission Recommends Investigation into Artists Including Directors Aman Pratap and Nischal Basnet

Kathmandu. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has recommended that the government investigate certain artists and individuals who gained prominence on social media for their alleged involvement in the Gen-Z movement. The Commission’s report mentions that directors Aman Pratap Adhikari and Nischal Basnet should also be investigated.

The Commission has also concluded that Vivek Thapaliya, Sisan Baniya, Bhagya Neupane, Tanka Dahal, and Victor Paudel should face investigation. The Commission has placed them on the list of individuals who need to be investigated on matters including their involvement in the human and physical damage caused during the movement, whether their expressions provoked and agitated the protesters causing any impact or influence, and whether any acts prejudicial to public peace and order were committed.

The Commission had earlier already recommended investigations into former prime ministers, former home ministers, nearly a dozen lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, and senior officials of the security agencies. The Commission has made these recommendations based on the report of the investigation committee formed under the coordination of member Lily Thapa.
