CSTO Deputy Foreign Ministerial Consultations Held in Moscow Under Russian Chairmanship

Moscow. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation A.A. Pankin chaired consultations of deputy foreign ministers of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Moscow on June 1. The Russian Federation holds the chairmanship of the organization this year.

The participants discussed the progress of preparations for the meeting of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers scheduled to take place in Kazan on June 10. The parties reviewed draft joint documents proposed for adoption at the ministerial level, including a number of political statements on pressing international issues.

A substantive exchange of views took place on measures to enhance the effectiveness of the CSTO Secretariat’s activities and to improve the working conditions of its staff. In line with the implementation of the 2025 decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council, proposals concerning the strengthening of information and analytical work were also considered.

The consultation participants separately addressed the issue of expanding the CSTO’s external engagement. The efforts of the Organization’s Secretariat in implementing the roadmap for developing cooperation with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) across various dimensions of regional security were noted.

The prospects for cooperation with interested states and international organizations, including in the capacity of CSTO observers and partners, were also outlined.
