Russia-Philippines Mark 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations with Archival Exhibition, Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening Ties

Moscow. The Russian Foreign Ministry hosted the opening of an exhibition of archival documents and photographs dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Philippines on June 1.

Welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony were delivered by Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade and Chairman of the Russian part of the Joint Russian-Philippine Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation Alexey Gruzdev, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to the Russian Federation Igor Bailen.

The speakers reaffirmed their commitment to the further progressive development of bilateral relations, based on the traditions of friendship and mutual respect. Emphasis was placed on the shared desire to strengthen political dialogue, promote trade and economic cooperation, and expand humanitarian exchanges.

The sides noted that Russia and the Philippines share identical or similar approaches to key issues on the international and regional agenda.

The event was also attended by heads of diplomatic missions of other ASEAN member states in Moscow, as well as representatives of the Executive Office of the Russian President, the Federal Assembly of Russia, Russia’s Government, ministries and agencies, as well as public and academic circles.
