Beijing Specialists Provide Free Spine Treatment in Dingri

DINGRI – A work team stationed in Byafo Village, Dingri County in the Tibet Autonomous Region, has facilitated free medical care for local residents by bringing spine specialists all the way from Beijing to the county’s central hospital.

On May 24, the renowned “Tahai Spine Saving” team from Beijing arrived in Dingri after traveling nearly 3,000 kilometers. Despite discomfort caused by the high altitude, the experts immediately began providing medical services.

Prior to their arrival, the local work team, in coordination with health authorities, had already identified residents with spine-related issues across the county. Initial screenings found problems in approximately 110 individuals, including over 50 patients under the age of 45.

Upon arrival, the Beijing experts carefully reviewed medical reports and, together with local doctors, conducted one-on-one diagnoses and developed customized treatment plans. They also provided educational sessions on preventing spine problems—common in high-altitude regions due to years of heavy labor—and promoted scientific health awareness.

Plans have been made for surgeries and rehabilitation for seven patients with severe conditions. Additionally, nine patients previously scheduled for free surgery in Beijing in 2024 were re-examined on-site; their conditions have shown improvement, and effective treatment remains possible.

The head of the village work team stated that such public health initiatives will continue. He emphasized that by bringing high-quality, national-level care directly to the county, patients no longer need to travel long distances for treatment. This has boosted confidence among residents and reflects a sustained commitment to addressing their healthcare needs with responsibility and compassion.
