Russia’s Fencing Federation: “We Are Back – With Our Flag and Anthem!”

Moscow. The Executive Committee of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) has decided to admit Russian athletes to international competitions in all age categories without any restrictions – as part of the national team, under the Russian flag and with the Russian anthem.

As a reminder, in December 2025, the FIE became one of the first international Olympic sports federations to admit Russian juniors and cadets to its tournaments without restrictions. Russian fencers immediately began delivering strong results at Junior World Cup stages – with the Russian flag repeatedly raised and the Russian anthem played.

Later, Russia’s women’s junior sabre team won team gold at the World Championships in Brazil, while at the European Championships in Tbilisi, Team Russia competed under the national flag and finished first in the overall team standings.

The first competition where Russian athletes will compete with national symbols will be the World Championships in Hong Kong, scheduled for July 22-30, 2026.
