Russian Language Day Celebrated in Kathmandu with Pushkin Literary Evening

A special literary evening was organized at the Russian House in Kathmandu to mark Russian Language Day. The event highlighted that the Russian language is the foundation of Russia’s cultural and historical heritage, and that love and care for the language lie at the heart of preserving and nurturing traditional values.

The program was organized by the Nepali-Russian Literary Society. The event featured the opening of an exhibition of illustrations based on the works of renowned Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, followed by the literary evening. Prior to the program, Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Professor Sushil Bahadur Bajracharya, offered a traditional floral garland to the bust of Pushkin.

Russian Language Day was established by UNESCO in 2010 and falls on the birthday of Alexander Pushkin. Russian is the most widely spoken native language in Europe. Nepali literary enthusiasts joined the global celebrations to mark the occasion.
