Prime Minister Must Show the Land Nepal Allegedly Encroached Upon: Harka Sampang

Kathmandu — Shram Sanskriti Party chair Harkaraj Rai, popularly known as Harka Sampang, has demanded that Prime Minister Balendra Shah provide evidence to support his statement in Parliament that Nepal had also encroached upon Indian land.
Speaking at Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Rai said the Prime Minister must clearly identify the places where Nepal allegedly encroached upon Indian territory. He said that if there is no such evidence, the Prime Minister should correct his statement in Parliament.
“The Prime Minister must show where Nepal has encroached upon land. Otherwise, he must correct his words,” Rai said.
On Jestha 17, Prime Minister Shah had made a controversial statement in Parliament, saying that India had not only encroached upon Nepal’s land but Nepal had also encroached upon Indian land in many places. The statement has drawn strong objections from opposition parties.
Opposition parties have been obstructing House proceedings, demanding that the Prime Minister correct his statement, provide a clear answer in Parliament and remove the controversial remarks from the parliamentary record.
Rai said that a sensitive issue such as the national border must be addressed with facts, evidence and responsibility, and demanded clarification from the Prime Minister in Parliament.
