China to Advance AI, Foreign Trade, Green Development and Health Priorities
Kathmandu. Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Monday chaired a State Council executive meeting that discussed artificial intelligence, the current foreign trade situation, green development and national health planning.
The meeting heard a briefing on the development of artificial intelligence and studied China’s present foreign trade situation. It also discussed work related to building China into a strong trading nation.
The meeting reviewed and approved an action plan on carbon peaking and a national health plan for the 15th Five-Year Plan period, which runs from 2026 to 2030.
On artificial intelligence, the meeting stressed that China should take the initiative in advancing the sector. It called for faster breakthroughs in key technologies, accelerated construction of ultra-large-scale intelligent computing clusters, and stronger support for essential factors such as talent and funding.
The meeting also urged the large-scale commercial application of AI-powered products and services. At the same time, it emphasized the need to maintain the bottom line of AI security, strengthen risk management and expand international cooperation on AI governance.
On foreign trade, the meeting stressed the need to expand imports of high-quality goods and services, while promoting more balanced development between imports and exports. It said China should continue to improve the structure and quality of foreign trade.
The meeting called for strengthening the brand influence of trade in goods and increasing the added value of products. It also emphasized the need to improve trade in services and digital trade, which are important components of China’s goal of becoming a trading powerhouse.
On green development, the meeting highlighted the importance of creating new growth drivers for the green economy. It called for advancing the green and low-carbon transformation of industries, promoting green production methods and encouraging greener lifestyles.
Regarding health, the meeting stressed the need to build a full-life-cycle health service system. It also called for vigorous development of the health industry, richer supply of health products, and stricter quality and safety supervision.
The latest State Council executive meeting shows that China will place stronger emphasis on technological innovation, high-quality trade, green transformation and public health during the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan period. The policy direction links artificial intelligence, digital trade, green development and the health industry with China’s broader modernization drive.
