Protest at Maitighar After Death of Ganesh Nepali from Mugu, Chants of ‘Death to Killer Government’

Youths have staged a protest at Maitighar in Kathmandu following the death of 25-year-old Ganesh Nepali from Mugu. The protesters took to the streets after Nepali, who had set himself on fire in front of the Department of Passports in Tripureshwar on Thursday, succumbed to his injuries during treatment today.
During the protest, they raised slogans such as “Death to the killer government, Balen your love was the cause of Ganesh’s self-immolation,” demanding action against those responsible for the incident, holding the government accountable for Nepali’s death.
The protesters were stopped by police with barricades at Bhadrakali as they marched from Maitighar toward Bir Hospital. They have continued their agitation, demanding a fair investigation into the incident and punishment for the guilty.
Nepali, a resident of Soru Rural Municipality-1 in Mugu, had set himself on fire in front of the Department of Passports. He passed away this morning during treatment. Following his death, grief and outrage have been expressed on social media, drawing the government’s attention to the matter.
