Russian Senator Warns of ‘Harsh Response’ After Attacks on Wildberries Logistics Centres

Grigory Karasin, chair of the Russian Federation Council’s Committee on International Affairs, has warned that Russia will deliver a harsh response to Ukrainian drone attacks on two Wildberries logistics centres.

Writing on Telegram, Karasin said the response would not be long in coming and would be severe. He added that many words could be used to describe such attacks, but chose one: “disgrace.”

Ukrainian drones struck Wildberries logistics centres in Kotovsk, in Russia’s Tambov region, and Elektrostal, in the Moscow region, on July 18. The company and Russian regional authorities confirmed that both facilities were hit.

According to the latest available information, seven employees were killed at the Kotovsk centre and one person died in Elektrostal. More than 60 people were injured across the two locations, some of them seriously.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the facilities were supplying sanctioned materials used in drone production and navigation equipment, effectively acknowledging responsibility for the attacks. The claim that the centres had a military role has not been independently verified.

The Russian side has described the strikes as attacks on commercial and logistics infrastructure staffed by civilian employees.

Karasin did not specify what form the response would take, while the Russian government and Defence Ministry have not yet announced any formal decision regarding possible retaliatory measures.
