Russia Says Two Ukrainian Soldiers Captured in Konstantinovka, Releases Video

Russia’s Defence Ministry has claimed that two Ukrainian soldiers were captured in Konstantinovka, in the Donetsk region, after entering the area to record a video with a Ukrainian flag.

According to the ministry, the soldiers were detained by troops from Russia’s Southern Group of Forces. The Russian news agency TASS also released a 51-second video clip related to the incident.

The footage shows two men in military uniforms holding a Ukrainian flag inside a heavily damaged building. The Russian side claimed that the two later thanked Russian soldiers for taking them prisoner and saving their lives.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the Ukrainian personnel had entered the area to record footage intended to demonstrate a symbolic military presence. Detailed information about the exact date, location and circumstances of their capture has not been released.

Although the video has been made public, it does not independently verify the full circumstances surrounding the incident. It also remains unclear whether statements made while the men were in captivity were voluntary and free from pressure.

The Ukrainian side had not issued an immediate official response to the Russian claim. Russia and Ukraine have continued to present conflicting accounts of the military situation in and around Konstantinovka.
