Sabin Neupane, executive producer of Shailee Theatre, represented Nepal at the “Days of International Theatre Cooperation” programme held in Moscow, the capital of Russia, from July 13 to 17.

The programme was organised as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Theatre Union of the Russian Federation and was implemented under the “New Generation” programme and the “Cultural Union” project. Neupane travelled to Moscow with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russian Embassy in Nepal.

The programme brought together 30 young actors, directors and theatre managers from 12 countries. Participants discussed ways to expand international theatrical cooperation, exchange professional experience and explore possibilities for future joint projects.

The programme opened with an official ceremony at the Theatre Union of the Russian Federation. It was followed by a strategic session on theatrical relations among BRICS and Commonwealth of Independent States countries, creative meetings, workshops and guided visits to cultural sites across Moscow.

Participants also visited the Stanislavski House Museum, where they learned about the life, creative work and theatrical legacy of Konstantin Stanislavski, the renowned Russian theatre director, reformer and creator of the internationally influential system of acting.

They also toured the Bolshoi Theatre and took part in a round-table discussion on the future prospects of international theatrical cooperation.

Neupane described an evening performance at the Mossovet Theatre and the musical “Anna Karenina” at the Moscow Operetta Theatre as among the most memorable experiences of his visit.

On the final day of the programme, he explored Moscow and travelled on the city’s metro system. He described the capital’s underground railway as unique and exceptionally beautiful.

According to Neupane, the visit provided him not only with memorable experiences but also with an opportunity to meet theatre professionals from different countries, exchange expertise and identify new possibilities for future international projects.
