The 16th Cordyceps Exhibition and Trade Fair and the Drukmo Cultural Tourism Horse Racing Competition have opened in Sog County, Nagqu City, in the Xizang Autonomous Region. The event will continue until July 25.
The opening ceremony began with a performance titled “The Eternal Song of the Pastoral Land.” The programme was divided into three thematic sections: “Joy,” “Tranquillity” and “Love.” Through songs, dances and immersive visual performances, the ceremony showcased Sog County’s distinctive industries, local culture, community life and the friendship demonstrated by various sectors supporting the development of Xizang.

According to the organisers, this year’s event features a wide range of thematic activities. Under a development model combining “experience and exhibition sales,” the programme includes a cordyceps exhibition and trade fair, horse racing competitions, immersive cultural displays and cultural tourism promotional activities.
High-quality cordyceps produced in the Nagqu region are being displayed at the fair. Organisers said the exhibition reflects the hard work, confidence and enthusiasm of local communities.
The event is based on the development concept of “one cordyceps connecting one cultural tourism route.” With the cordyceps exhibition and trade fair at its centre, the programme includes an industry symposium, brand exchanges, product displays and business networking activities.
A “King of Cordyceps” competition and auction are also being held to select the finest specimens. These activities are intended to further establish and promote Sog County’s cordyceps as a distinctive local product.
A series of traditional folk sports and horse racing competitions are also taking place during the festival. The competitions feature three main categories: gaited horse displays, speed racing and long-distance racing.
In addition, a special promotional conference on the outstanding cultural tourism resources of northern Xizang along the “Sky Road G317” has been organised. The programme also includes a new book launch, industry agreement signings, immersive cultural exhibitions, traditional ethnic sports competitions and a communal dance evening.
The organisers aim to further diversify and enrich the festival’s activities while injecting new vitality into cultural tourism consumption. By integrating the cordyceps industry with local culture, traditional sports and tourism, the event is expected to promote the high-quality development of distinctive local industries and the cultural tourism sector.
