Two additional oil tankers were attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles near the Black Sea marine terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, the company has said.
Citing the CPC, the Russian news agency TASS reported that the tankers Asia and Nissos Ios were targeted while loading oil at a single-point mooring facility. The vessels were carrying crude oil produced in Kazakhstan.
According to the company, no employees of the CPC or its contractor organisations were killed or injured in the attack. Crew members aboard the tankers did not request medical assistance, and both vessels remain afloat.
Oil-loading operations at the terminal were suspended following the attack. Although an assessment of possible damage is under way, the company said no oil spill had occurred.
Other facilities along the pipeline system continue to operate normally.
The CPC’s approximately 1,500-kilometre pipeline connects oilfields in western Kazakhstan with Russia’s Black Sea coast, where crude oil is loaded onto tankers for export to international markets.
Around 80 percent of Kazakhstan’s crude oil exports are transported through this route.
The consortium’s shareholders include Russian and Kazakh state-linked companies, as well as entities associated with Chevron, Lukoil, ExxonMobil, Rosneft and Shell.
