Heavy Rain Forecast in Hill Regions of Five Provinces, Very Heavy Rain Possible Overnight

Nepal’s Meteorological Forecasting Division has said that monsoon winds are currently influencing weather conditions across the country. The monsoon trough lies near its normal position in the west and slightly north of its normal position in the east.

According to the division, the Tarai region of Sudurpashchim Province is partly cloudy, while the rest of the country is experiencing generally to fully cloudy conditions. Light to moderate rainfall is occurring at some locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces.

Generally to fully cloudy conditions are forecast across the country during the day. Moderate rain and snowfall are possible at some locations in the mountainous regions, while light to moderate rainfall is expected at many locations in the hills and at some places in the Tarai.

Heavy rainfall may occur at one or two locations in the hill regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces.

Generally to fully cloudy conditions are also forecast nationwide tonight. Moderate rain and snowfall are possible at some locations in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two locations in the mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Moderate rainfall is likely at many locations in the hill regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and at some locations in the hills of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Moderate rainfall may also occur at many locations in Madhesh Province and in the Tarai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. Some locations in the Tarai region of Sudurpashchim Province may also receive moderate rainfall.

During the night, heavy rainfall is possible at some locations across the mountainous, hill and Tarai regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in Madhesh Province and the Tarai region of Lumbini Province. Very heavy rainfall may occur at one or two locations in these areas.

The division has urged people in areas at risk of heavy and very heavy rainfall to remain alert to possible debris flows, floods, landslides and soil erosion.

Adverse weather may affect daily life, agriculture, healthcare services, tourism, mountaineering, and road and air transport. The public has therefore been advised to remain regularly updated on the latest weather information issued by the department.
