Fugitive Prisoner Karma Tamang Arrested in Budhanilkantha, Shot in the Leg by Police

Police have arrested Karma Tamang after opening fire during an operation in the Budhanilkantha area of Kathmandu.

According to Superintendent of Police Dan Bahadur Thapa of the Kathmandu District Police Range, officers fired shots while attempting to take Tamang into custody at around 2 a.m. on Sunday.

Tamang, who sustained a bullet injury to his leg, is currently receiving treatment at the National Trauma Centre. Further details regarding his health condition have not been released.

Police said Tamang had been on their wanted list over allegations of involvement in theft and robbery cases.

Tamang had been serving a prison sentence but escaped from custody during the Gen-Z movement, according to police.

The Kathmandu District Police Range said further investigation into the incident was underway.
