Police Search Two Locations Linked to Devenara Group in Biratnagar

Morang police have launched searches at two locations in Biratnagar linked to the operators of the Devenara Group.
According to a senior official at the District Police Office, Morang, police teams began searching the Mundada family residence on Goshwara Road and JJ Jewellers, located north of Golchha Chowk, on Monday morning.
The searches were initiated after police received information alleging that illegal hundi transactions and other unlawful activities were being conducted from the locations. However, the allegations have not yet been confirmed.
Police are continuing their search at the building housing JJ Jewellers, which is associated with Prakash Mundada, vice-president of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries, Koshi Province, and a former president of the Morang Trade Association.
Police have also been inspecting vehicles and other materials at Mundada’s residence on Goshwara Road.
Security personnel have been deployed around both locations. The police official said detailed information about the basis of the operation, the materials being examined and the suspected transactions could not be disclosed while the investigation was underway.
According to police, no major suspicious or illegal material had been found during the preliminary search.
Further official information regarding any seized materials, financial records and possible legal action is expected after the searches and initial investigation are completed.
