China’s foreign trade, measured in yuan, grew 19.2 percent year on year in July, according to data released Friday by the General Administration of Customs.
The total value of goods imports and exports reached 4.66 trillion yuan, equivalent to about 686.26 billion U.S. dollars, during the month. This marked the fifth consecutive month in which China’s monthly foreign trade remained above 4 trillion yuan.
Exports rose 17.8 percent from a year earlier in July, while imports increased 21.2 percent.
In the first seven months of the year, China’s total foreign trade in goods reached 30.13 trillion yuan, up 17.3 percent year on year.
Exports of high-tech products recorded even stronger growth. Shipments of products including industrial robots and 3D printers rose by more than 50 percent year on year in July.
The July increase was faster than the 39 percent growth recorded for high-tech product exports in the first half of the year.
The customs data indicate that both imports and exports maintained strong growth, while high-tech products continued to play an increasingly important role in the expansion of China’s foreign trade.
