Bodies of Three Nepalis Killed in Broad Peak Avalanche to Arrive in Kathmandu Today

The bodies of three Nepali citizens who died in an avalanche on Pakistan’s Broad Peak are being brought to Kathmandu today.
According to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the bodies of Kili Pemba Sherpa “Kilu,” Gyalu Sherpa and Nima Sherpa are scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu at 4:45 pm today on a Qatar Airways flight.
They were caught in an avalanche in the Broad Peak area on Saun 14.
The body of Pur Bahadur Gurung “Yukta,” who also died in the same incident, had already been brought back to Nepal on Saun 21.
The bodies of three others—one Nepali, one Pakistani and one American climber—have yet to be recovered and repatriated from the accident site.
Broad Peak, located in Pakistan, is one of the world’s mountains exceeding 8,000 metres in elevation. Following the accident, the concerned authorities have been coordinating with local officials and rescue teams to recover the bodies and facilitate their repatriation.
